Public Records Request

Records created or received by local government offices in the course of business are considered public records and must be maintained and disposed of according to the terms of the Kansas Open Records Act.  Unless the law restricts access to public records for reasons of privacy, confidentiality, or security, they must be made available to the public.

The Cowley County Sheriff's Office follows these guidelines as the law sets out.  Some records such as criminal history, arrest, juvenile arrest records, mugshots, fingerprints and others are not public records.  Offense reports, accident reports and officer activity reports are public records.

In an effort to facilitate these records being open and easier to access, they are available upon request. If a citizen of Cowley County, member of the media, or any other person wishes to view these records, submit this form to the Sheriff's Office to receive an E-Mailed copy or to set up a time to view the records in person.
