Kansas Open Records Act

A recent amendment to the Kansas Open Records Act (K.S.A. 45-215, et seq.) provides that "each governing body of a public agency in Kansas shall designate a local freedom of information officer", effective July 1, 2000.

  • Resolutions
  • Minutes from open meetings
  • Salaries of public officials
  • Budgets
  • Records that are exceptions to the Freedom of Information Act include:
  • Personnel records
  • Medical treatment records
  • Records protected by the client-attorney privilege
  • Records containing information gathered in the Census
  • Notes and preliminary drafts
  • Criminal investigation records
  • Other specific records
